Gamifying Racket Sports: A Web Experience That Engages Pickleball, Tennis, and Padel Players
Bounce

Objective
Design an engaging, high-performance web and mobile experience for Bounce—a gamified platform for pickleball, tennis, and padel. The goal was to attract players, coaches, and sports organizations by showcasing the platform’s unique features, such as team challenges, performance tracking, and community building. The experience needed to reflect the energy of racket sports and convert visitors into active users.
Challenge
Transform the dynamic and social aspects of racket sports into a seamless digital experience for both desktop and mobile users.
Address the needs of varied audiences, including players seeking motivation, coaches managing teams, and clubs aiming to build their communities.
Design with scalability in mind: the platform should be able to expand into new regions and potentially include additional sports and features.
Establish a consistent design language for both web and mobile platforms, ensuring that functionality and brand impact remain strong across all devices.

Solution
I developed a responsive design system in Figma that is optimized for both web and mobile platforms, ensuring smooth adaptation between different screen sizes without sacrificing visual impact.
I designed distinct, intuitive user flows for desktop, which are more exploratory and content-rich, and for mobile, which focus on fast actions and dashboard-style interactions.
Incorporating motion design and gamified visuals (such as badges, avatars, and progress bars), along with bold UI components, I aimed to convey the excitement of pickleball, tennis, and padel.
I prioritized touch-friendly interactions and minimalistic navigation for mobile users, enabling easy usage during training or gameplay.
Additionally, I collaborated with developers to optimize performance and animation behavior across various browsers and devices.
I effectively managed content complexity—such as challenges, rankings, and team progress—ensuring that it feels intuitive and visually engaging.
Results
Achieved a 25% increase in sign-ups within the first three months after launching on both web and mobile platforms.
The mobile version saw high user retention, particularly among younger players and coaches who utilized the app during live sessions.
The bounce rate decreased by 30% on desktop and 35% on mobile, indicating enhanced user engagement and clearer navigation.
The cohesive design across multiple platforms established a strong foundation for brand consistency in app store listings, marketing campaigns, and future product launches.
Users provided positive feedback, praising the mobile version for its ease of use during live matches and training sessions, while complimenting the web version for its visually appealing storytelling and clear features.
